Breast
Size, shape, asymmetry — and implants.
Start here
- What does it change?
Enlarging with an implant or one's own fat, reducing by removing tissue, or exchanging and removing an implant already in place.
- Is there anything short of surgery?
None on this site. No non-surgical way to change breast size is recorded here. Claims that a topical product enlarges the breast have no evidence on this site.
- Can it be undone?
An implant can be removed or exchanged — unusual on this axis. Tissue that was removed, and the scars, do not come back.
There are no numbers and no citations in this box. What has been established, and how far, is below.
The most important sentence in this slot is that an implant is not a lifetime object.
When considering breast augmentation, read implant revision alongside it. Capsular contracture, rupture and changes in shape lead to further surgery for some people, and that possibility is part of the first decision. It is no accident that the only two operations on this axis with their own revision page are the nose and the breast.
Reduction is a different kind of operation. Breast reduction is often not purely cosmetic (shoulder, neck and back symptoms), and its scars are among the largest on this axis. The possibility of an effect on breastfeeding is something to hear before deciding.
The scar of areola reduction is unusual — hidden at a border where colour changes, so at its best it is among the least visible.
Gynecomastia surgery addresses glandular tissue and fat together. Fat alone can be suctioned; gland has to be excised, and telling them apart is clinical work.
This site does not cover prices, clinics or testimonials.
